Aylesbury Echo Logo

Description

Originally the client, a charity organization called Creation, had asked me to design a pamphlet containing information about their projects and objectives for their target audience, a economically deprived area of South East London. I was asked to create something that would be engaging as the pamphlet was going to be an important outreach tool for the charity.

At 20 pages, it was quite an extensive pamphlet, and so I made the suggestion that they should reformat the information as a magazine, rather than a pamphlet. That way, the material would look appealing and by its very nature be engaging, rather than look like a manifesto and wouldn't be confused with something the local council might produce which was a concern of my client.

The client thought that this was a great idea and I worked with them for several days brainstorming ideas for the magazine and its name. The title of the magazine became the Aylesbury Echo - because not only was it a publication to deliver information, but to gather feedback from the very people it was aimed at.

I chose the custard yellow because it is a key colour in the Clients branding and I thought the magazine should be tied to the organization some how.

The stencil letters that form the name are actually cut away from the log, so that when used on the cover of the magazine, any photography used can be seen behind the logo.
