Description
I have always loved the Robin Hood folklore/myth and so this one was a real treat for me to do.
The poster is for a play at an all girls school and is an original piece of writing by Marjorie Forbes who approached me to create a poster to publicize the performances.
Marjorie (aka Marnie) gave me a copy of the play in which she had drawn on several themes of woodland spirits as well as the original classic story. I therefore decided to focus on Herne giving me a strong central image and I wanted Robin to appear within his robes as Herne represents the forest.
Highlighting the bow and arrow reinforces the story that people will be familiar with and gives the poster a sense of the magical which is also a recurrent theme in this interpretation of the story.
Time: 2 days
Medium: Brush and Ink, enhancement in Photoshop
Reference: Marnie's marvellous adaptation of a well loved classic
